The Palm Beach County Police Benevolent Association is an association/union for law enforcement personnel.
We represent over 5,000 deputies, police, and correctional officers from Palm Beach, Martin and St. Lucie Counties. We negotiate Collective Bargaining Agreements that memorialize in a written contract, pay, benefits, and various due process rights with a view toward potentially ensuring that none of our members are treated less favorably than others. And when our members are treated less favorably, or our contracts are ignored, we do what most people associate with the PBA. We engage in dispute resolution procedures and “carry the fight” wherever it needs to go. To the extent that all of our daily lives are governed, in one way or another, by politics and politicians, it is not surprising that the PBA gets involved in State and local political processes. When it comes to our members’ careers and their continuing abilities to provide for their families, the PBA is unwilling to rely on “the kindness of strangers.”
Kids today face problems that are of a different nature than those of their parents and grandparents. Law enforcement officers see social problems daily and are in a position to coordinate educational scholarships through the PBA CHARITY FUND. Contributions to the PBA Charity Fund, Inc. are used toward educational scholarships. The PBA Charity Fund, Inc. is a 501(C)(3), and is a charitable corporation under the nonprofit Corporation Law of Florida, Chapter 617 Florida Statutes.
It was established in 2004 specifically to aid our members and their children with scholarships to help defray the “skyrocketing’ costs of higher education. This fund will be controlled by the PBA and distributed among the many children of police officers and children in Palm Beach County who are in need of additional assistance from the community, about which we feel so strongly.
Through the years, the PBA Charity Fund has expanded its realm of charitable donations. In addition, scholarships, the PBA Charity Fund provides charitable assistance to our members and their families who have experienced life-altering tragedies or catastrophic events.
